Zeekr Elevates Electric Driving with 900-Volt Technology in the New 7X SUV

Zeekr Advances to 900-Volt Technology for Latest 7X SUV Redesign

October 21, 2025 — Chinese premium electric vehicle brand Zeekr, a subsidiary of the Geely Group, has unveiled a significant upgrade to its 7X SUV model by adopting 900-volt battery technology in most higher-end variants. This leap from the previous 800-volt system, introduced with the original 7X just over a year ago, sets new benchmarks in charging performance and vehicle capabilities for the brand.

Transition from 800-Volt to 900-Volt Systems

The Geely Group has been progressively shifting its upmarket brands toward 800-volt electrification architectures, with notable implementations such as the Volvo EX90 and Polestar 3. Zeekr, however, is taking the next step by elevating the voltage to 900 volts in its latest 7X version and other models like the Shooting Brake 001. Announced in mid-October and now open for pre-sales across China, the refreshed Zeekr 7X sports this advanced electrical system on almost all variants aside from the entry-level model. Initially launched in September 2024 featuring an 800-volt setup, the new 7X update arrives swiftly with major improvements after approximately one year in the market.

Enhanced Battery and Charging Specifications

The most substantial overhaul lies beneath the vehicle’s underbody. The base 370 kW rear-wheel drive variant continues with a 75 kWh 800-volt battery pack, delivering an estimated CLTC range of 620 kilometers. The higher-tier models, however, are equipped with a considerably larger 103 kWh ‘Qilin’ battery pack operating at 900 volts.

This enhanced battery enables a peak charging rate of around 618 kW—an impressive 6C charging capability. Under optimal conditions, the electric SUV can charge from 10% to 80% battery capacity in just 10 minutes. In contrast, the smaller 800-volt battery requires an additional 30 seconds for the same energy addition.

Performance and Range Highlights

The top-spec all-wheel drive version boasts a system output of 585 kW, enabling the sizable 4.83-meter-long, 2.4-tonne SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 2.98 seconds. Despite its power, the vehicle maintains an estimated driving range of up to 715 kilometers under moderate use. For drivers prioritizing efficiency, the entry-level model consumes only 13.9 kWh per 100 kilometers, underscoring its economical credentials.

Advanced Driver Assistance and Technology Upgrades

Alongside the powertrain advancements, the updated 7X comes standard with Zeekr’s ‘G-Pilot H7’ driver assistance system. This advanced package incorporates a comprehensive suite of 31 sensors and integrates LiDAR technology for precise environmental perception. The vehicle’s autonomous functions are powered by the Nvidia Drive Thor-U chip, providing a robust computing capacity of 700 TOPS (trillions of operations per second), significantly enhancing processing speed and responsiveness.

Market Reception and Availability

The refreshed Zeekr 7X is currently exhibited in showrooms across China, with an official market launch scheduled for October 28, 2025. Although final pricing has yet to be disclosed, prospective customers have already begun pre-ordering the model, with expected incentives such as discounts for early purchasers.

The 7X is Zeekr’s second best-selling model in China, with strong sales figures totaling 52,255 units between January and September 2025. The previous generation 800-volt 7X version has also started deliveries to select European markets, including Norway, the Netherlands, and Sweden, as of May 2025. —

Zeekr’s shift to 900-volt technology with the new 7X marks a decisive move toward faster charging and improved performance in the premium electric SUV segment, reflecting the brand’s ambition to push the boundaries of electric mobility both in China and internationally.
