Volkswagen Group Showcases Innovations and Celebrates Iconic Models at IAA Mobility 2025
Wolfsburg/Munich, September 7, 2025 — At this year’s IAA Mobility trade fair in Munich, the Volkswagen Group demonstrated its comprehensive strength and forward-thinking approach as a global leader in automotive technology. With a range of world premieres, cutting-edge technological highlights, and celebrated products across its diverse brand portfolio, the Group underlined its commitment to driving innovation, sustainability, and electrification.
Electrifying World Premieres and Concept Reveals
Ahead of the official start of IAA Mobility, Volkswagen Group introduced two world premieres and one trade fair premiere that excited industry insiders and visitors alike.
One of the major highlights was the global unveiling of Volkswagen’s ID. CROSS Concept, the fourth member of the all-electric “Electric Urban Car Family.” This compact SUV concept marks an important milestone in the Group’s ambition to make e-mobility affordable. With a planned starting price of approximately EUR 25,000 from 2026, the ID. CROSS Concept completes a family of small electric vehicles also including models from Škoda and CUPRA. It boasts a driving range of up to 450 kilometers, appealing to urban drivers seeking sustainable mobility solutions at accessible prices.
Škoda further contributed to the lineup with the first physical concept car of the Epiq SUV, while Volkswagen’s ID. Polo and CUPRA’s Raval were showcased as camouflaged series-production vehicles, providing a glimpse into the future of compact electric cars.
Celebrating Tradition and Future Performance
Porsche celebrated a significant world premiere by unveiling the new top model of the legendary 911 series, blending the brand’s rich heritage with modern technological innovation. The launch demonstrates Porsche’s continuous journey to push performance and hybrid technology to new heights while honoring the iconic status of its flagship sports car.
In the premium segment, Audi provided insights into its future design direction through the striking Concept C, revealed recently in Milan. This all-electric sports roadster embodies Audi’s evolving design philosophy focused on clarity and essentialism—melding elegant coupé lines with the spirited experience of open-top driving. Audi’s Chief Creative Officer Massimo Frascella emphasized that this clarity applies both to exterior aesthetics and the vehicle’s interior environment.
Technological Advancements and New Mobility Solutions
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles celebrated the 75th anniversary of the VW Bus (Bulli), tracing the evolution from the classic T1, a symbol of the German ‘Wirtschaftswunder’ (economic miracle), to the cutting-edge, all-electric ID. Buzz. The latest highlight in this proud lineage is the autonomous ID. Buzz AD, which integrates fully with the Group subsidiary MOIA’s comprehensive software ecosystem designed for autonomous mobility services. With this turnkey solution, the Volkswagen Group positions itself to enter the rapidly growing on-demand mobility market, which experts forecast to be worth between USD 350 and 450 billion by 2035 in Europe and the US alone.
Porsche also showcased its innovation in charging technology with the Cayenne Electric prototype, featuring a luminous paint finish and the pioneering Porsche Wireless Charging system. This technology marks a first in the industry, offering an 11 kW inductive charging base plate that simplifies convenient home charging without cables, asserting Porsche’s leadership in both sportscar performance and e-mobility infrastructure.
Volkswagen Group’s Vision: Technology for All Segments
As CEO Oliver Blume emphasized, “The Volkswagen Group delivers. At IAA Mobility, we are showcasing exciting products and offering the best automotive technologies. From affordable all-electric small cars to luxury sports cars with state-of-the-art performance hybrid drives, our strong brands are setting highlights in all segments in the relevant technology fields, including batteries, charging, AI, autonomous driving, software, and platforms.
