VNPT Announces Cancellation of Auction for Danang Information Technology Telecommunication Design Joint Stock Company (DNTD) Shares
Hanoi, Vietnam – September 8, 2025
The Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) has officially announced the cancellation of the public auction for the sale of its shares in Danang Information Technology Telecommunication Design Joint Stock Company (DNTD Company). The decision comes after no investors registered to participate in the auction scheduled by VNPT.
Background and Context
This auction was part of VNPT’s ongoing restructuring plan, approved by the Prime Minister under Decision No. 620/QD-TTg dated July 10, 2024. The plan aims to restructure Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group through to the end of 2025, including the strategic transfer of shares in its subsidiary companies.
Following Decision No. 86/QD-VNPT-HDTV-KTTC dated July 31, 2025, VNPT arranged to transfer shares in DNTD as part of this broader restructuring initiative. To facilitate this, VNPT engaged Saigon-Hanoi Securities Joint Stock Company (SHS) to conduct a standard public auction for the sale of these shares.
Auction Outcome
According to SHS’s official notification No. 1341-2025/CV-SHS dated August 29, 2025, by the registration deadline of 3:30 p.m. on August 29, 2025, there were no bids or registrations from investors wishing to purchase the shares of DNTD. As a result, the auction could not proceed and was officially declared unsuccessful.
VNPT has therefore confirmed that the capital transfer via this public auction method for its shares in Danang IT Telecommunication Design Joint Stock Company will not be executed at this time.
Implications for VNPT and the Telecom Sector
This development represents a setback in VNPT’s ongoing efforts to restructure and optimize its holdings within its telecommunications and IT subsidiaries. The inability to attract investors to purchase shares in DNTD indicates a lack of market interest under current conditions, which may prompt VNPT and relevant authorities to revisit their equity divestment strategies.
Additional Notes
VNPT has recently announced several other similar cancellations of auctions involving shares of other subsidiaries, underscoring challenges in the current equity transfer program.
