The International Orienteering Federation’s (IOF) IT Commission is set to host an open online meeting dedicated to exploring the latest advances and challenges related to technology used in the sport of orienteering. The event will take place on 9 November 2025 from 19:00 to 21:00 CET (UTC +1) via Microsoft Teams, with the meeting link to be shared closer to the date.

This session aims to bring together developers, event organisers, athletes, and enthusiasts to discuss technological considerations in orienteering. The evening will feature a series of concise presentations on various topics, highlighting both the challenges faced by technology developers and the innovative solutions being implemented in the field.     Alistair Landels from OCAD (Switzerland) discusses the complexities involved in creating mapping applications adaptable to various devices.

  • Radio Control Deployment: 25 Years of Experience
    Ian Marsden, Director at GPProjects and CTO at Eseye (United Kingdom), reflects on lessons learned from decades of radio control use in orienteering.

    Edoardo Tona of the IOF IT Commission will highlight plans to update the federation’s data standards to enhance technological compatibility.
