Trump Directs Increased Deportations in Democratic-Controlled Cities Following Nationwide Protests

June 15, 2025 | Washington D.C.

President Donald Trump has told federal agents to deport undocumented immigrants in cities led by Democrats. This order came after many people took part in protests across the nation. Protesters filled more than 2,000 gatherings, with numbers reaching hundreds of thousands or more. People spoke of strong anger at Trump’s immigration rules.

On social media, Trump sent a clear message. He told Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents to do all they can to start what he called the largest mass deportation effort ever. He pointed to big cities like Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York, where many undocumented immigrants live.

Recent weeks saw more immigration checks than before. Stephen Miller, Trump’s Deputy Chief of Staff, guided new operations. ICE now expects to make about 3,000 arrests each day, a jump from roughly 650 daily arrests seen early in Trump’s second term.

At the same time, Trump’s team said that officials must pause large-scale arrests in farms, hotels, and restaurants. A source close to the case said Trump worries about harm to these work areas if the new plan went on without changes.

The raids have brought much stress and anger to local groups. In Southern California, ICE agents raided a market in Santa Fe Springs just before a music concert. Dozens of agents, along with several vehicles and helicopters, worked on the task. Many market visitors felt shock and upset.

Howie Rezendez, who recorded the scene, noted how many police were there. Omar Benjamín Zaldívar, who was at the concert, saw people taken away by ICE. The raid led to the concert being put off, and event organizers now promise to give more news on future plans.

During a protest in Salt Lake City, Utah, one person lost their life. Local police said that Arthur Folasa Ah Loo, 39, was hit by a bullet from an AR-15 fired by another protester. Police still gather more facts about the incident.

As events continue, critics watch Trump’s immigration plan with care. More protests seem likely as people come together to stand against what they see as harsh and unfair checks.
