New Visvesvaraya Technological University Centre to Boost Research in Next-Gen Technology
Bengaluru, July 11, 2025: Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) has inaugurated a state-of-the-art Hub and Spoke Centre of Excellence at its regional office in Bengaluru, marking a significant step towards advancing research, innovation, and entrepreneurship in cutting-edge technologies.
The new centre is designed to be a catalyst for development and experimentation in emerging fields, providing a national platform to harness the potential of next-generation technologies. The facility spans over 1 lakh square feet, reflecting VTU’s commitment to fostering a vibrant ecosystem for research and innovation.
Union Minister of Communications, Jyotiraditya Scindia, who officiated the inauguration, emphasized the importance of startups focusing not only on innovation but also on solving pressing societal challenges. He highlighted the critical role of emerging technologies such as 6G, artificial intelligence (AI), quantum computing, and beyond, urging stakeholders to prepare India to lead this technological transformation. “Startups must align with India’s developmental vision,” he said.
The Centre of Excellence is the product of a strategic partnership involving VTU, the Visvesvaraya Research & Innovation Foundation (VRIF), and the Telecom Centre of Excellence (TCOE), India. It aims to become a national hub for pioneering research in several high-impact areas, including 5G and 6G communications, machine learning, augmented and virtual reality, quantum computing, and advanced healthcare technologies.
By creating this collaborative infrastructure, VTU and its partners intend to support researchers, innovators, and entrepreneurs in pushing the boundaries of technology and nurturing solutions that cater to the evolving needs of society and industry.
This initiative further cements Bengaluru’s status as a prominent center for technological research and innovation, enhancing the ecosystem for next-generation technological growth in India.
