Studyville Teams Up with Shmoop to Revolutionize Student Learning Experience
By Jordan Arceneaux | August 20, 2025
Baton Rouge-based tutoring company Studyville is partnering with education technology firm Shmoop to create a unique blend of personalized tutoring and advanced digital learning tools. This collaboration aims to provide students with a more connected, effective, and human-centric path to academic success.
Combining Technology with Human Interaction
As schools increasingly rely on a multitude of digital programs that often promise much but yield less, Studyville and Shmoop’s partnership stands out by emphasizing the value of human intelligence alongside technology.
Shmoop CEO Andrew Caldwell expressed enthusiasm about the alliance, stating, “We are excited about the collaboration between Shmoop and Studyville, which combines our cutting-edge technology with Studyville’s exceptional human tutors to provide students with a comprehensive and highly effective learning experience. Our shared goal is to offer the most impactful solutions for students today.”
Studyville CEO Amanda Martin highlighted the distinct nature of this partnership. “This partnership is big because we don’t see anything like it in the market, and there is a push for getting kids off screens,” Martin said. “All of our competitors are screens. They are programmatic, systemized learning modules, and there’s not a human there to have that interaction with students. What we’ve learned is that human interaction is irreplaceable.”
Services and Availability
The partnership enables students to access Shmoop’s innovative test-prep digital tools combined with Studyville’s in-person tutoring support. These services will be available at Studyville’s academic workspaces as well as through partner schools across multiple states.
Schools interested in participating in this collaborative learning program are encouraged to reach out to either Studyville or Shmoop for more information.
Studyville’s Journey and Growth
Founded in 2020 and inspired by Amanda Martin’s experience assisting her own children, Studyville started as a local tutoring center offering homework support, test preparation, and tutoring through a monthly membership model. Its initial location was at Perkins Rowe, and the company expanded to Alexandria in 2022. In April 2025, Studyville acquired the former Jefferson Oaks Behavioral Health clinic on Jefferson Highway to establish its new corporate headquarters. Since then, Martin has hired four full-time employees with plans to expand the staff further. The company’s workforce numbered approximately 484 employees last year, most of whom serve as tutors.
In 2023, Studyville was recognized by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce as one of America’s top 70 small businesses.
