Semicon India 2025: Sinclair CEO Praises India’s High-Tech Expertise as Second to None

Washington DC, September 2, 2025 — Ahead of the much-anticipated Semicon India 2025 conference, Chris Ripley, President and CEO of American firm Sinclair, has lauded India’s exceptional capabilities in wireless technology and semiconductor design, describing the country’s high-technology know-how as “second to none” globally.

Speaking from Washington DC, Ripley highlighted India’s rapid advancements in critical wireless technologies and its role in driving innovation for new products worldwide. “We recognized that the expertise available in India was second to none in the world. We have invested heavily in India to produce next-generation wireless technologies, like what I have here,” he said, holding up a tablet powered by a D2M chip designed entirely in India. “This is a great example of how India is leapfrogging the rest of the world in critical wireless technologies and semiconductor design, and driving innovation and new products in the US and the rest of the world.”

Sinclair, one of the largest US media companies, has underscored its commitment to India’s semiconductor ecosystem through significant investments in research and development.

Semicon India 2025: Showcasing India’s Semiconductor Strength

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate Semicon India 2025 on September 2 at Yashobhoomi, New Delhi. The three-day flagship event, running through September 4, is designed to accelerate growth and create a robust, resilient, and sustainable semiconductor ecosystem in India.

The conference agenda includes a wide range of sessions focused on:

  • Progress of the Semicon India Programme
  • Semiconductor fabrication (fab) and advanced packaging projects
  • Infrastructure readiness and smart manufacturing
  • Innovations in research and development, including artificial intelligence
  • Investment opportunities
  • State-level policy implementation

The event will also highlight government initiatives such as the Design Linked Incentive (DLI) scheme, the burgeoning startup ecosystem in India, and international cooperation efforts. It aims to lay out a future roadmap strengthening India’s semiconductor sector.

Wide Participation and Global Engagement

Semicon India 2025 is expected to attract over 20,750 attendees, including more than 2,500 delegates from over 48 countries. The event will feature more than 150 speakers, including over 50 global industry leaders, and over 350 exhibitors. Highlights include six countries’ roundtable discussions, country pavilions, and dedicated areas for workforce development and startups.

Organized worldwide, Semicon conferences play a critical role in disseminating information on technological breakthroughs and government policies intended to foster semiconductor manufacturing and innovation.

India’s Journey as a Semiconductor Hub

In line with Prime Minister Modi’s vision to position India as a global hub for semiconductor design, manufacturing, and technology development, this conference follows previous successful editions held in Bengaluru (2022), Gandhinagar (2023), and Greater Noida (2024).

The government’s comprehensive efforts have already started to bear fruit, as demonstrated by industry leaders like Sinclair making India a key location for next-generation chip design and wireless technology development.
