Gateless Parking Technology Expands to All PARK Roanoke Facilities
Roanoke, VA – December 5, 2025 – Starting Monday, December 8, all PARK Roanoke parking garages will transition to a fully gateless parking system, city officials announced. This modernization effort follows the successful introduction of the technology at the Center in the Square Garage and will now be implemented across every PARK Roanoke facility.
The new system allows vehicles to serve as their own parking passes. Drivers simply enter the garage, park, and exit without needing to stop at a traditional gate. Advanced Metropolis technology manages entry and exit processes automatically, eliminating wait times and common issues such as equipment malfunctions associated with conventional gate systems.
Brian Mann, Roanoke’s Executive Enterprise Administrator, emphasized the significance of this upgrade. “The transition to a gateless system represents more than just a convenience; it is a fundamental upgrade to our community’s experience and operational efficiency,” Mann said. “By removing physical barriers, we are embracing a future of seamless, modern access that enhances resident flow, eliminates the frustration of gate malfunctions, and significantly reduces maintenance costs and delays. This is about prioritizing effortless entry and investing our resources where they truly belong: in enhancing the quality of life, not in repairing obsolete infrastructure.”
The city invites residents and visitors to learn more about the new parking system and to create an account ahead of the switch to ensure a smooth experience. Additional information and account setup can be accessed through the PARK Roanoke website.
This initiative marks a notable step toward improving urban mobility and modernizing infrastructure, reinforcing Roanoke’s commitment to providing efficient, user-friendly public services.
