Tulsiramji Gaikwad-Patil College Launches Industry-Powered Curriculum in Ginning Technology
Nagpur, August 26, 2025 – Tulsiramji Gaikwad-Patil College of Engineering & Technology (TGPCET) has taken a significant step towards enhancing technical education by introducing an industry-driven curriculum in ginning technology. This innovative academic program is launched in partnership with Bajaj Steel Industries Ltd (BSIL), Nagpur, and the Institution of Engineers (India), Nagpur local Centre.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed recently to formalize this collaboration, which will be implemented starting with the 2025-26 academic session. The new curriculum is designed specifically for mechanical and electrical engineering students, aiming to integrate practical industrial knowledge with theoretical learning.
Specialized Curriculum Introduction
The revamped course structure incorporates two specialized subjects: "Ginning Process" to be taught in the 6th semester and "Ginning Management" scheduled for the 7th semester. These courses will offer comprehensive theoretical frameworks alongside practical insights into the technology and management of cotton ginning — a critical segment in the textile manufacturing industry.
To augment classroom learning with hands-on experience, students successfully completing both subjects will be eligible for a six-month internship at Bajaj Steel Industries’ Nagpur facility. This industry exposure is intended to enrich students’ experiential learning, develop their technical competencies, and increase their employability in a competitive job market.
Event and Dignitaries
The launch event was attended by prominent figures, including Dr. Mohan Gaikwad-Patil, Chairman of GPG, Akash Gaikwad-Patil, Vice-Chairman of GPG, and Dr. Sandeep Gaikwad-Patil, Treasurer of GPGI. From the industry side, Dr. MK Sharma, CEO and Whole-time Director of Bajaj Steel Industries Ltd, was present alongside several esteemed professors and engineers such as Dr. JF Agrawal, Dr. RL Shrivastava, Dr. GK Awari, and others.
Bridging Academia and Industry
This partnership emphasizes bridging the gap between academic knowledge and industry demands. With research opportunities, specialized laboratories, and focused placement support, TGPCET aims to boost its mission: “From Classroom to Career – Powered by Industry Collaboration.”
The initiative highlights TGPCET’s commitment to evolving education that meets current industry standards, preparing its students for a seamless transition into professional roles within the engineering and manufacturing sectors, particularly in fields related to textile and material processing technology.
