Revolución en Defensa: Indra Presenta 17 Innovadoras Iniciativas en el 'NGWS Technology Marketplace'

Indra Showcases 17 Cutting-Edge Projects at the ‘Indra NGWS Technology Marketplace’

Madrid, June 30, 2025 – Indra, Spain’s leading technology and defense company, highlighted 17 “disruptive initiatives” at the recent ‘Indra NGWS Technology Marketplace’ event. The showcased projects come from 14 organizations including companies, universities, and research centers across Spain, all active participants in the NGWS/FCAS program — the Next Generation Weapon System/Future Combat Air System initiative that aims to shape the future of aerial combat in Europe.

A Collaborative Push in Defense Innovation

The NGWS/FCAS program, a trilateral effort between Germany, Spain, and France, seeks to develop an integrated ‘system of systems.’ This future vision includes a sixth-generation fighter jet alongside multiple drone carriers operating within an advanced combat cloud. Scheduled for deployment around 2040, the program emphasizes the urgency of identifying and accelerating innovative technologies today to ensure their maturity and readiness over the next 15 years.

Indra, serving as the national coordinator for Spain on this project, played a pivotal role in enabling the participation of these varied entities. The marketplace event functioned as a platform where each participant had dedicated booths to present their latest technological advances, engaging with national and international supervisors overseeing the program’s progression.

Spotlight on Groundbreaking Technologies

Among the highlighted initiatives, several focus on advancements within the combat cloud infrastructure. Notable contributors include the Barcelona Supercomputing Center-Centro Nacional de Supercomputación (BSC-CNS) and Gradiant, alongside companies and institutions such as Fyla, AG Photonics, the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias, IDBotic, and Quside. These efforts aim to enhance computing, data processing, and communication capabilities vital for future combat environments.

Equally significant are the projects dedicated to sophisticated sensor technologies. Entities like Sensia, the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Anteral, the Universidad Pública de Navarra, Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, the Group of Optoelectronics and Laser Technology (GOTL) from the same university, Beamagine, and Gradiant have contributed developments aimed at improving situational awareness and operational capacities on the battlefield.

A distinguishing feature of the NGWS/FCAS initiative is its encouragement of early participation from companies outside traditional defense sectors. This strategic move fosters the integration of dual-use advanced technologies—innovations that can serve both civilian and military purposes—a critical factor in accelerating breakthroughs that will define the future operational landscape.

Moving Forward

With the NGWS/FCAS marking the most significant ongoing defense program in Europe, Indra’s facilitation and exhibition of these pioneering projects underscore Spain’s commitment to maintaining a competitive edge in future defense technologies. The collaborative approach within this marketplace model not only promotes transparency and interaction among participants but also catalyzes faster development cycles essential for meeting the program’s ambitious timelines.

As the NGWS/FCAS program advances, continued synergy between governments, industry, and academia will be vital. Indra’s role as coordinator and innovator embodies this nexus, helping to bridge cutting-edge research with practical defense applications, ultimately contributing to Europe’s strategic autonomy and security.
