Olivier Sessink Appointed Chief Technology Officer at the Dutch Police
On December 15, 2025, an official announcement confirmed that Olivier Sessink will assume the role of Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at the Police Service’s Information Provision Department (dienst Informatie Voorziening, IV) starting February 1, 2026. He will succeed Joop van der Born in this key leadership position.
A Veteran in Defense IT Innovation
Sessink brings with him two decades of experience from the Ministry of Defence, where he initially worked as an IT Innovation Manager. During his tenure there, he led numerous pioneering projects focused on enhancing operational capabilities, modernizing IT infrastructure, and strengthening cybersecurity frameworks. His deep expertise and leadership in technology culminated in his appointment as the CTO of Defence in 2019. Transition to the Police Force
Making a significant career move, Sessink is set to transfer his extensive knowledge of IT innovation and digital transformation to the police force. His role will involve overseeing the information provisioning services, which are critical to the police’s operational effectiveness and technological advancement.
Collaboration with Algemene Bestuursdienst
The police maintain a partnership with the Directorate-General of the General Administrative Service (Directoraat-Generaal Algemene Bestuursdienst, DGABD). DGABD supports the police leadership in managing vacancies and employment conditions, aligning administrative services to ensure the police force runs efficiently.
This appointment marks a notable step in bolstering the technological capabilities of the Dutch police by incorporating seasoned expertise from the defense sector. Olivier Sessink’s leadership is anticipated to drive innovation and reinforce the police’s technological infrastructure in the coming years.
