On the afternoon of October 23, 2025, the award ceremony and exhibition for the 2nd “Technology with Heart” photo and video contest took place at the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) Headquarters in Hanoi. The event was jointly organized by the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) and the Viettel Group, a leading military-industrial and telecommunications corporation.
Distinguished Attendees and Organizers
The ceremony was honored by the presence of several notable figures including Mr. Tạ Quang Đông, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Ms. Trần Thị Thu Đông, National Assembly Delegate of the 15th session, Vice President of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations, and President of the Vietnam Photographers Association; Associate Professor Dr. Trần Tuấn Anh, Vice President of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology; Lieutenant General Nguyễn Văn Đức, Head of the Propaganda Department, General Political Department of the Vietnam People’s Army; Mr. Nguyễn Minh Triết, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and President of the Vietnam Student Association, along with representatives from various central ministries and Hanoi authorities.
Representatives from the organizing bodies included Mr. Vũ Việt Trang, Member of the Government Party Committee, Secretary of VNA’s Party Committee, General Director, and Chairman of the Awards Council; Deputy General Directors Nguyễn Tuấn Hùng, Đoàn Thị Tuyết Nhung, and Nguyễn Thị Sự (Head of the Organizing Committee) from VNA; and from Viettel Group, Senior Lieutenant Colonel Võ Thanh Hải, Head of Brand and Communications Department and Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee; Senior Lieutenant Colonel Nguyễn Hà Thành, Deputy General Director of Viettel Telecom; and Lieutenant Colonel Cao Phương Liên, Director of Viettel Media.
The Significance of the Contest: Fostering Innovation and Prosperity
In his opening remarks, Mr. Vũ Việt Trang emphasized the theme for this edition — “Vietnamese Innovation: The Road to Prosperity.” He highlighted this message as a testament to the creative spirit propelling the country forward through intellectual strength, innovation, and technological advancement. In the digital era, technological achievements not only simplify and clarify life but also serve as a driving force for sustainable national development. This aligns closely with the spirit of the draft documents for the 14th Party Congress and key directives from the Party’s Secretariat and government in recent years.
Mr. Trang underlined VNA’s important role as the national news agency committed to accompanying the country’s development. To bring information closer to the public and vividly reflect the nation’s accomplishments — especially in science and technology — VNA seeks fresh perspectives and emotionally resonant stories told through compelling images. Consequently, VNA and Viettel, a pioneer in digital technology creation and application, have joined forces to organize the “Technology with Heart” awards for the second consecutive year to share this vision and values.
Celebrating Creativity and Human Connection through Technology
Congratulating the winners, Mr. Vũ Việt Trang shared that many works vividly portray the passion and curiosity for technology among students, who represent the country’s future generation. Some captured moments of humans mastering technology and transforming creative ideas into real solutions addressing disaster prevention and social issues. Others highlighted the meaningful connections technology fosters for people with disabilities and marginalized communities, improving lives in remote areas.
Most importantly, all these works reach the “heart” — symbolizing love, passion, and aspirations nurtured by scientific and technological achievements, while evoking pride in Vietnamese technology-branded accomplishments.
Award Results and Highlights
The contest received a total of 1,131 single-photo entries, 229 photo series, and 122 video submissions. After thorough judging, the panel selected 32 outstanding works for awards: 11 prizes for photo series (1 first prize, 2 second prizes, 3 third prizes, and 5 consolation prizes); 10 prizes for single photos (1 first prize, 2 second prizes, 3 third prizes, and 4 consolation prizes); and 11 prizes for videos (1 first prize, 2 second prizes, 3 third prizes, and 5 consolation prizes).
The First Prize for the single photo category was awarded to Mr. Bùi Văn Vân from Ho Chi Minh City for his work titled “The Joy of Meeting Robots.” The winning photo series, “Robots as AI Staff Serving Public Administration in Hanoi,” was created by Nguyễn Phú Khánh and Trần Thanh Giang from Hanoi. The video category’s top prize was given to Lục Hương Thu and Nguyễn Tuấn Khôi from Lào Cai for “Lào Cai Students Research and Develop Emergency Warning System for Natural Disasters.”
Judges praised the winning works for their insightful perspectives on how science and technology impact lives. Through simple yet profound storytelling via visual language, these works showcase how technology has become indispensable and enhances human connection and love, underscoring the contest’s humanitarian and artistic value — the very message VNA and Viettel seek to spread.
Winners’ Experiences and Testimonials
Lục Hương Thu, a VNA correspondent in Lào Cai and winner of the top video prize, expressed honor and pride in receiving the award. She recounted her story about three students from Lào Cai Specialized High School developing an emergency early warning system for natural disasters following the flash floods triggered by Typhoon No. 3 (Yagi) in 2024. Her work highlights the power of knowledge, technology, and human values in protecting communities from natural hazards. Ms. Thu emphasized that technology enhances journalistic humanity by enabling reporters to better understand, connect, and share love more effectively.
Nguyễn Phú Khánh, winner of the first prize in the photo series category from the An ninh Thủ đô (Capital Security) newspaper, described the experience of documenting the deployment of AI robots at Hà Nội’s Cửa Nam ward since July 10, 2025. The multifunctional robots assist citizens with services such as consultation, auto-number distribution, real-time feedback collection, digital information boards, autonomous movements serving refreshments, AI conversation, and on-site support. Khánh highlighted how the “special staff” made administrative procedures more friendly, transparent, and human-centered, bringing joy to people of all ages. For him, technology is a tool to better serve humanity and foster a civilized, just, and happier society.
Exhibition and Public Engagement Activities
Following the awards ceremony, an exhibition showcasing the 32 winning works alongside 31 outstanding entries opened at Tao Đàn Flower Garden opposite the VNA headquarters in Hanoi. The exhibition runs from October 23 to 26, 2025. Concurrently, Viettel organized an interactive mini-game titled “Technology with Heart” inviting young technology enthusiasts to participate. The first 100 participants received Viettel-branded gifts, and two special prizes — AirPods 4 and the photo book “A80: The Homeland in the Heart” — were awarded for the most impressive photo and video check-ins. A virtual exhibition is also accessible online at https://trienlam.congnghetutraitim.com.
Continuing Success and Vision for a Digital Society
Now in its second year, this contest remains a meaningful collaboration between VNA and Viettel to promote beautiful imagery and convey impactful messages about the humanitarian values technology brings to life. It honors the science and technology community across ages and professions, aiming to build a digital society where people are centrally valued, and technological progress contributes to national prosperity and social happiness.
The “Technology with Heart” photo and video contest exemplifies how innovation and creativity can be captured through artistic expression, inspiring the public’s appreciation for the vital role technology plays in modern Vietnam’s development journey.
