Kashmir's Top 10th Grader Aneesa Shafi Advocates for Balance Between Technology and Traditional Learning

Kashmir 10th Class Topper Calls for Balancing Technology with Book Reading

Anantnag, January 14, 2026 — Aneesa Shafi, a student from Anantnag district, who achieved a perfect score of 500 out of 500 in the recent matriculation examination, has emphasized the importance of balancing technology use with traditional book reading for effective learning.

Aneesa, a student of Whiz Kids School Khanabal, was among the 19 students across Kashmir who topped the examination. Hailing from Chee village in Anantnag, she urged students not to overly depend on electronic gadgets and the internet as the sole sources of knowledge. “I did make use of technology, but you need to draw a line,” Aneesa remarked. “You can’t entirely rely on gadgets and the internet to acquire knowledge. Reading prescribed textbooks and other books is equally important.”

The young topper explained that excessive usage of electronic devices, particularly for studies, can have negative impacts on concentration and learning ability. “Using electronic gadgets extensively for studies can affect concentration and learning,” she warned.

Despite her confidence in her performance during exams, Aneesa said she did not anticipate securing a perfect score. “All my papers went well, but I never thought I would secure 500 out of 500,” she said.

She credited her success to consistent school attendance and a disciplined study routine. Aneesa said she used to study for around three hours daily, increasing her study hours a month before the final examinations. “Hard work is important, but the focus should be on qualitative studies, not just the number of hours,” she added. Aneesa encouraged students to stay focused, avoid unnecessary peer pressure, and be grateful for their achievements.

Apart from academics, Aneesa actively participated in various co-curricular activities at her school, which she believes helped maintain her motivation and balance. “I always made time for co-curricular activities, which helped me stay motivated,” she stated.

Aneesa is the first member of her family to pass the matriculation examination. Her father, Muhammad Shafi, runs a business while her mother is a homemaker. She has two siblings who are currently pursuing their education.

She expressed heartfelt gratitude to her parents, teachers, and the management of Whiz Kids School for their unwavering support throughout her academic journey. “My parents, teachers and the school management supported me at every step,” she acknowledged.

Looking ahead, Aneesa declared that her achievement marks the beginning of her academic journey, not the end. She has chosen to pursue science subjects in the higher secondary level (10+2) and aspires to build a career in the medical profession. “I cannot afford to relax or lose focus,” she affirmed.

Her father shared his perspective on her success, noting the family’s supportive approach. “We never put any unnecessary pressure on her and gave her complete freedom,” Muhammad Shafi said, as relatives and villagers gathered at their home in celebration of Aneesa’s accomplishment.

Aneesa’s message underlines the significant role of balanced study habits combining technology and traditional reading, highlighting a path many students can emulate for academic excellence in today’s digital age.
