Junior Science & Technology Olympiad: An Exciting Science Competition for Indonesian Children
Jakarta – The Junior Science & Technology Olympiad (JSTO) 2025 is here to ignite the passion for science and technology among Indonesia’s middle school students. This national-level competition promises a fun, inspiring, and educational experience aimed at nurturing young talents across the archipelago.
A New Breakthrough in National Olympiads
Initiated by SMA Unggulan Rushd and organized by Algobash.com, JSTO targets junior high school students throughout Indonesia. Unlike regular contests, JSTO challenges participants across three core disciplines: Mathematics, Informatics, and Science. The competition is designed to cultivate critical thinking, creativity, and self-confidence as students solve complex problems.
More Than Just a Competition — A Step Toward Innovation
JSTO recognizes the extraordinary potential in every child to learn and innovate. The event not only awards medals but also provides lasting experiences and motivation for lifelong learning. This competition is a stepping stone for young minds to become future innovators and leaders.
JSTO 2025 Timeline and Participation
Registration for JSTO 2025 opened in October and welcomes all junior high school students aged 15 and under from across Indonesia. The competition unfolds in three stages:
- Regional Qualification Round (December 6–8, 2025): Conducted online, this phase filters participants by region.
- National Selection Round (December 12–14, 2025): The top contenders from regions compete to represent their areas.
- Final Selection & Awarding Night (January 4–5, 2026): The grand finale takes place in person at SMA Unggulan Rushd in Solo.
From Sabang to Merauke, JSTO is accessible to all Indonesian students. This year’s event aims to engage over 3,000 participants from 500 schools nationwide.
Beyond Competition: The Rushd Innovation Camp
Besides the main contests, participants will enjoy the Rushd Innovation Camp—a program blending learning, exploration, and inspiration. This camp encourages a love for science and technology through interactive and enjoyable activities.
Fairness Through Technology
To ensure transparency and objectivity, JSTO employs AI-based digital systems during the selection process. This approach guarantees an equitable experience for all children competing.
Supporting Indonesia’s Future Innovators
Parents and guardians are encouraged to support their children’s journey in JSTO, helping to build a generation of creative and confident problem solvers prepared for tomorrow’s challenges.
