Senior Executives of Multipolar Technology and Acer Indonesia Questioned by Attorney General’s Office
Jakarta, 10 October 2025 – The Attorney General’s Office (Kejaksaan Agung) has intensified its investigation into alleged corruption in the procurement of Chromebook systems by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek). On Thursday, 9 October 2025, investigators examined four key witnesses connected to the case, underscoring efforts to strengthen the evidentiary basis.
According to a written statement by Anang Supriatna, Head of the Public Information and Legal Communication Center at the Attorney General’s Office, these witness interrogations are crucial to completing the case files.
The four individuals called for questioning were:
- WC, Vice President Director of PT Multipolar Technology Tbk
- FF, Account Manager at Multipolar Technology
- LMNG, President Director of PT Acer Indonesia
- MF, Chief Director of PT Liberta Technologies
While Anang Supriatna declined to reveal details of the testimonies given during the interrogations, he emphasized that the prosecution is working diligently to finalize the investigation phase.
Background of the Case and Suspects
The corruption case centers on the procurement of digital tools aimed at supporting educational institutions across primary, secondary, and tertiary levels. The project notably involves the acquisition of Chromebooks, with a reported government budget allocation reaching Rp3.58 trillion for this Information and Communication Technology (ICT) initiative at Kemendikbudristek. Additionally, the project attracted funds amounting to Rp6.3 trillion sourced from the Special Allocation Fund (Dana Alokasi Khusus – DAK).
Investigators contend that the procurement process was tainted by a conspiracy favoring the use of Chromebooks, despite earlier 2019 trials revealing inefficiencies. The trials showed that deploying 1,000 Chromebooks was impractical as learning tools, largely due to their dependence on internet connectivity, which remains uneven across various regions.
Anang Supriatna highlighted allegations that technical teams were manipulated to produce technical assessments biased towards Chromebooks, sidelining alternative options.
Earlier developments saw the Attorney General’s Office name former Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Nadiem Makarim as a suspect in this case. Nadiem has since challenged his suspect status through a pretrial motion.
In total, four individuals have been detained as suspects:
- Former Special Staff to Minister Nadiem, Jurist Tan (JT)
- Consultant Ibrahim Arief (IA)
- Ex-Director of Middle School Division at Kemendikbudristek Mulyatsah (MUL)
- Former Director of Primary School Division at Kemendikbudristek Sri Wahyuningsih (SW)
The case escalated to the formal investigation stage on 20 May 2025 and continues to draw significant public and legal attention.
Ongoing Investigation
The Attorney General’s Office is committed to conducting a thorough investigation into the case to ensure accountability amid concerns over the management of the large-scale ICT procurement project. Stakeholders await further updates as the judicial process unfolds.
