The Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) proudly secured the prestigious Best Stand award at the Gelar Inovasi Harmoni Nusantara (GIHN) 2025 event held at Universitas Kristen Satya Wacana (UKSW) in Salatiga on Wednesday, October 8, 2025. This accolade recognizes UNNES’s excellence in applied research, interactive visitor experience, and the consistent promotion of its impactful “Kampus Berdampak” (Impactful Campus) brand.
Excellence in Innovation and Presentation
The Best Stand award was granted following rigorous curation that assessed originality, practical benefits, readiness for commercialization, and exhibition design. UNNES showcased a diverse range of innovative products spanning interdisciplinary university collaborations. Featured innovations included AI-based educational tools, ecoprint technology, green technology solutions, and accessible solutions tailored for micro, small, and medium enterprises (UMKM). Each innovation was designed to be easily understood by the public while prepared for collaboration with industry stakeholders and local government authorities.
UNNES Rector Emphasizes Commitment to Social Impact
Professor Dr. S. Martono, M.Si., Rector of UNNES, underscored the university’s dedication to accelerating the application of research outcomes for societal benefit. “Winning the Best Stand award at GIHN demonstrates that UNNES’s innovation ecosystem is successfully bridging the gap from laboratory research to real community impact. We are committed to strengthening the commercialization process so that both faculty and student research can deliver tangible added value to our regions and the nation,” he affirmed.
Support from Central Java Governor Highlights Innovation’s Role in Creative Economy
Ahmad Luthfi, Governor of Central Java, attended the event and highlighted the critical role of innovation in nurturing a creative economy. “The Gelar Inovasi Harmoni Nusantara is a key incubator for breakthroughs created by higher education academic communities. Innovation fuels the creative economy, which in turn generates job opportunities for individuals and communities through innovative products,” the governor stated firmly.
He further disclosed that the Central Java provincial government has forged partnerships with 44 universities to foster synergy in regional development. “Collaboration occurs via various programs such as thematic community service (KKN tematik), empowerment initiatives, and the development of assisted villages throughout Central Java,” emphasized Governor Luthfi.
Looking Ahead: Strengthening Collaboration and Impact
UNNES perceives this achievement as an impetus to bolster research collaboration and community service — especially in areas such as village empowerment, local economic resilience, and public service digitalization. Moving forward, the university plans to expand its partnership networks, accelerate commercialization readiness, and deliver more inclusive, high-impact innovations.
