Goupil Technology: A Promising Leap with 3D Training Universes and a Major Contract
Angoulême, November 10, 2025 – Less than two years after its inception, the Angoulême-based start-up Goupil Technology is quickly accelerating its growth trajectory. The company recently won a significant regional project to develop an immersive 3D training program aimed at industrial maintenance, marking a major milestone in its development.
From Iteca Roots to Innovative 3D Training
Founded by 33-year-old Tristan Gassies, a passionate gamer, Goupil Technology’s origin is closely tied to Iteca, a previous startup specializing in industrial software solutions which was liquidated in 2023. The core team, including technical director Julien Picard and developer Calixte Suaudeau—both former Iteca employees—rebounded swiftly by creating Goupil Technology. Their mission evolved from traditional industrial software to crafting immersive virtual environments that serve as training platforms.
“We wanted to help the remaining apprentices from Iteca complete their nearly finished three-year courses,” explains Gassies. Leveraging their expertise in developing digital twins of factories and production lines, the team pivoted towards creating 3D immersive training tools.
University Project Secures €800,000 Contract
The startup’s innovative proposal, named University, was recently selected as a winner of the Impact contest organized by GrandAngoulême, but more notably secured a lucrative contract worth €800,000 from the Campus des Métiers et Qualifications Numériques based in Poitiers. The contract focuses on delivering a professional training software specifically for industrial maintenance—a sector currently facing workforce shortages.
This project is aligned with Nouvelle-Aquitaine’s regional efforts to speed up training in this critical vocational area. “This contract elevates us to a new level and significantly increases our turnover—from €180,000 this year to an expected €350,000 to €400,000 next year,” says Gassies.
A pivotal partnership has been formed with the Sodalis factory in Vienne, which produces hygiene and cleaning products. Goupil Technology will create a digital twin of their bottling line. This virtual model will be used to train current employees, future maintenance students across Nouvelle-Aquitaine, and potentially trainees nationwide.
Beyond a Single Software: Building a Platform for Immersive Training
While the University project is a flagship endeavor, Goupil Technology envisions creating a versatile training platform where clients can upload diverse training modules and even design their own immersive scenarios with ease. Achieving such user autonomy requires substantial foundational work, prompting plans to expand their team by hiring an additional developer.
Argos 360: Enriching 360-Degree Images with Interactive Content
In parallel with its training software, Goupil Technology is advancing Argos 360, a project that transforms static 360-degree images into dynamic interactive experiences enriched with multimedia content such as text, audio, and video. Unlike conventional 360 photos, which often fail to engage viewers, Argos 360 allows users to explore points of interest and virtually travel to indicated locations within the panorama.
An early demonstration utilized the Chais Magelis complex, offering immersive views of buildings, historic ramparts, and even a simulated hot air balloon ride over Angoulême. Compatible with computers, smartphones, and virtual reality headsets, Argos 360 holds promising applications in tourism, culture, and professional orientation. The local digital workspace in southern Charente has already commissioned interactive 360 videos to showcase professions such as plastering and caregiving.
Future Prospects
Currently a five-member team, Goupil Technology is poised for growth fueled by new contracts and innovative projects. Their focus on blending industrial expertise with immersive digital technology positions them as an emerging player in the vocational training and digital experience landscape.
