Seoul’s Lotte Cinema Sillim Unveils Cutting-Edge Crazy Sound LED Powered by GDC Technology
December 11, 2025 – Seoul, South Korea — Lotte Cinema Sillim, a popular multiplex located in the SilLim-ro area of GwanAk-gu, Seoul, has officially opened its newly renovated auditoriums featuring the breakthrough Crazy Sound LED technology. This major upgrade, powered by GDC Technology’s advanced image and audio systems, marks a significant milestone for the venue and the Lotte Cinema chain’s continued commitment to delivering premium cinematic experiences.
State-of-the-Art Crazy Sound LED Auditorium
The centerpiece of the renovation is the newly introduced 188-seat “Crazy Sound LED” auditorium, the first of its kind in the Lotte Cinema network. This flagship screen integrates a Samsung Onyx LED display with the innovative Crazy Sound Cinema audio technology. Visitors can now enjoy stunning visuals on a DCI-certified HDR LED screen harnessing GDC’s SR-5520 HDR media server, which provides a level of brightness and contrast far surpassing conventional projection systems.
The Samsung Onyx display delivers over 12 times the contrast ratio of standard SDR laser projectors along with crisp 4K resolution and accurate DCI-P3 color reproduction. This guarantees every texture, hue, and detail appears exactly as the filmmakers intended, allowing even the darkest scenes to emerge with remarkable clarity.
Immersive Audio Experience with Crazy Sound Cinema
Complementing the extraordinary visuals is the Crazy Sound Cinema audio system, powered by GDC’s AIB-3000 audio processor and utilizing DTS Surround Cinema technology. This advanced sound architecture enhances the low-frequency output by diverting deep bass from surround channels to dedicated subwoofers, overcoming the limitations typical of traditional cinema speakers.
With 16-channel high-precision audio processing and refined center-screen dialogue localization, the system delivers impeccable sound positioning. Audiences experience immersive soundscapes where every effect and voice is precisely placed in the auditorium space, enriching the emotional and sensory impact of each film. The result is deep, room-filling bass paired with crystal-clear dialogue and detailed sound textures.
Additional Upgrades and Expanded Facilities
Alongside the Crazy Sound LED auditorium, the renovation includes upgrades across the eight-screen, 841-seat multiplex. New recliner seating has been installed in general auditoriums for enhanced comfort. The lobby areas have also been expanded and modernized with additional kiosks, self-service zones, and upgraded amenities aimed at improving the overall guest experience.
Vision and Future Expansion
Yoon Yong-Seop, head of Lotte Cultureworks’ Network Operation Center (NOC), emphasized the company’s commitment to quality: “Our goal is to deliver the inherent emotion of movies in a more complete form through the LED screens. We are continuously expanding our LED cinemas to provide a true and unique DCI-certified HDR viewing experience.”
Kim Byung-moon, head of Lotte Cultureworks’ cinema business division, added, “This renewal is not simply a facility improvement; it is a significant turning point in transforming the theatre into a multi-cultural space. We will continue to present technological advancements and differentiated content to provide a unique experience for audiences.”
