Guru Nanak Dev University Hosts Advanced 5G Technology Workshop
Amritsar, August 10, 2025 — Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), Amritsar recently hosted an intensive five-day workshop focused on 5G technology, highlighting its commitment to advancing telecommunications education in northern India. The event took place from August 4 to 8 at GNDU’s Department of Electronics Technology, where the university has established a state-of-the-art ‘5G Use Case Lab’ in collaboration with the Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications, Government of India.
The workshop attracted enthusiastic participation from faculty and students of prestigious institutions across the region, including National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jalandhar, University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET), Punjab University Chandigarh, Punjab Engineering College (PEC) Chandigarh, Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology Patiala, IIT Ropar, alongside the host institution GNDU Amritsar.
Industry Expertise and Practical Insights
In a bid to provide the participants with both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience, expert sessions were conducted by resource persons from Telecommunication Consultants India Limited (TCIL). These sessions offered valuable industry expertise, illuminating current and future trends in 5G telecommunications as well as practical applications of this cutting-edge technology.
During the inaugural ceremony, Dr. Ravinder Kumar, Head of the Department of Electronics Technology at GNDU, congratulated the organizing team for successfully putting together the workshop. He emphasized the critical importance of acquainting students and faculty with next-generation technologies like 5G to ensure they are industry-ready and equipped to contribute to the evolving telecommunications ecosystem.

Assistant Professors Dr. Rajdeep Singh Sohal and Dr. Jaipreet Kaur, who played key roles in organizing the training program, noted that the workshop served as an excellent platform for collaborative learning and skill development.
