Severe Weather Conditions Affecting Central and Southern Regions
Santiago, Chile – Heavy rain hit Chile this weekend. It caused power loss in 160,000 households. The SEC reported that power failed early Monday.
In Bío Bío, over 61,000 homes lost power. La Araucanía saw power go out in 38,000 households. The Metropolitan Region lost power in more than 33,000 homes.
Other regions face similar setbacks. Ñuble has 10,000 households in the dark. In Valparaíso, 7,000 homes lost power. Maule records over 5,000 outages. Los Ríos saw power fail in over 4,000 homes. O’Higgins and Los Lagos report nearly 3,000 outages each.
The heavy rain does more than cut power. It floods roads and disrupts transport. Emergency services stay alert as weather worsens.
Authorities monitor the situation closely. Crews work to restore power across the affected regions. Residents are advised to follow SEC alerts and local news. For those without power, staying patient and prepared is key as repairs continue.
