DeepL CEO Appointed to German Federal Chancellor’s Strategy Group for Technology and Innovation
Cologne, Germany – November 7, 2025 – DeepL, a leading global artificial intelligence (AI) company specializing in language technology and research, today announced that its CEO and Founder, Dr. Jarosław Kutyłowski, has been appointed to the German Federal Chancellor’s Strategy Group for Technology and Innovation (Strategiekreis für Technologie und Innovation). This advisory group serves as the highest-level counsel on matters of technology and innovation directly to the Chancellor’s office.
The newly formed Strategy Group includes a select cohort of distinguished representatives from industry, academia, and government. Its primary objective is to strengthen Germany’s research and innovation landscape, positioning the country to compete more effectively on the global stage amid rapid technological advancements — especially in AI.
In his statement, Dr. Kutyłowski expressed enthusiasm about representing the AI sector at a critical juncture: “I’m excited to join the Strategiekreis für Technologie und Innovation des Bundeskanzlers, representing the AI industry perspective at historically pivotal times for our society. The anticipated productivity gains from AI are expected to surpass those seen in previous innovation waves, such as the internet and cloud computing. We must act now as a nation if we want to benefit from these opportunities.”
Highlighting both the country’s strengths and challenges, Kutyłowski added, “While Germany has a strong industrial and scientific foundation, there are challenges in the implementation and scaling of AI technologies. However, it is not too late for Germany to assume a global leadership role in this area. It is encouraging to see that technology, particularly AI, is becoming a matter of national priority to ensure long-term economic resilience.”
At the inaugural meeting, members discussed the rapid development of AI and its potential to drive productivity gains across multiple sectors, including science, business, and public administration. Dr. Kutyłowski emphasized the need to view AI as a transformative force that permeates all levels of society and the economy: “The German ecosystem needs to be strengthened by fostering growth, competitiveness, sustainability, resilience, and technological sovereignty. To achieve this, we must harness our innovation potential and successfully translate advancements into practice. I look forward to working with my peers in the Strategic Group to make this vision a reality.”
The Strategy Group is chaired by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Thomas Weber, President of acatech – the German National Academy of Science and Engineering. Its members include other prominent figures, such as:
