Hanoi, February 6, 2026 — The Ministry of Science and Technology held a prestigious awards ceremony this morning in Hanoi to honor outstanding journalistic contributions to the fields of science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation. The 2025 Journalism Award on Science, Technology, Innovation and Digital Transformation celebrates articles and reports that have successfully highlighted significant achievements and developments critical to Vietnam’s socio-economic progress.

This award recognizes the dedication and thorough efforts of individual journalists and groups who have delved deeply into the science and technology sector, promptly capturing its breakthroughs and reflecting their impact. Their work contributes notably to advancing the knowledge and positive development of science and technology in the country.

Highlighting the Role of Journalism in National Growth

In the context of rapidly evolving national priorities, science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation have been identified as the three pivotal drivers underpinning Vietnam’s new growth strategy. They are essential factors for accelerating development, raising productivity, enhancing quality and added value, and strengthening national competitiveness on a global scale.

The award ceremony not only serves to commend exemplary journalism but also offers an opportunity to review the progress made so far in these vital sectors. More importantly, it reaffirms the crucial role that journalism plays in communicating the Party and State’s policies, fostering an innovative spirit across society, and encouraging the practical application of research outcomes in everyday life and production.

Overview of the 2025 Awards

The 2025 edition of the award saw vigorous participation, with nearly 700 entries submitted by individual authors and collaborative teams nationwide. According to the judging panel, the entries encompassed a broad spectrum of scientific and technological topics, innovation initiatives, and digital transformation efforts. Many submissions effectively addressed pressing real-life issues and were noted for their professional quality and topical relevance.

A total of 22 winning works were selected, including:

  • 5 First Prizes
  • 5 Second Prizes
  • 6 Third Prizes
  • 6 Consolation Prizes

The authors of first-prize entries received a trophy, certificates of merit from the Minister of Science and Technology, and financial rewards. Winners of second, third, and consolation prizes were also awarded certificates, trophies, and monetary rewards. Among the honored works, the team from Saigon Giai Phong newspaper received a consolation prize for their series titled "Creating a Safe, Modern, and Integrated Digital Financial System."

Forward Looking: Launch of the 2026 Journalism Award

At the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Bui Hoang Phuong officially launched the 2026 Journalism Award on Science, Technology, Innovation and Digital Transformation. The upcoming award cycle will continue to emphasize close alignment with the implementation of Resolution No. 57 of the Politburo.

The focus will be on deepening reportage and analysis of the transformational journey whereby science, technology, and innovation policies translate into tangible improvements in production, business, governance, and daily life. The award aims to amplify the role of journalism in driving awareness and support for these critical national objectives.
