Biden Administration’s Medicare Initiatives

The Biden administration has introduced significant measures aimed at reducing health care costs for Americans, particularly focusing on Medicare prescription drugs. These initiatives include lowering the average monthly premiums for older Americans by redirecting funds from a Medicare trust fund. This effort will provide financial relief by capping premium increases, ensuring a maximum increase of $35 per month compared to 2024.

Finally, Democrats are working to permanently extend the enhanced Affordable Care Act advanced premium tax credits, which have significantly reduced health insurance premiums for millions of Americans. California has additionally expanded healthcare by requiring large insurers to cover in vitro fertilization (IVF), benefitting LGBTQ+ families and others seeking fertility treatments.
