NBA Unveils Groundbreaking AI-Powered ‘POV Mode’ at 2026 All-Star Technology Summit
Los Angeles, February 13, 2026 — The NBA has taken a major leap forward in sports broadcasting innovation with the preview of a new AI-powered “POV mode” technology at the 26th NBA All-Star Technology Summit, held at the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles. The revolutionary feature enables fans to experience live NBA games from a unique vantage point — that of the players on the court themselves.
During a live demonstration onstage, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, along with Dallas Mavericks rookie Cooper Flagg, Charlotte Hornets rookie Kon Knueppel, and leading basketball YouTube creator Jesser, introduced the immersive new viewing experience. Jesser activated “POV mode” for fans to watch the January 29th game between the Mavericks and Hornets from the on-court perspectives of Flagg and Knueppel in real time.
Currently, the demo used prototype animations to replicate the players’ viewpoints, but NBA officials confirmed that these will soon be replaced with real-time visualizations reflecting the actual in-game actions of players, making the experience even more lifelike and engaging.
Transforming How Fans Watch the Game
Both rookie players, Flagg and Knueppel, shared their excitement about the technology after seeing the game from a player’s perspective. They emphasized how “POV mode” can enhance fan appreciation for the game’s critical elements such as speed, spacing, and decision-making — aspects that are often difficult to grasp fully from traditional broadcast angles.
Adam Silver highlighted the potential of this innovation, stating that every NBA game contains “thousands of perspectives and stories” that can now be unlocked using emerging AI technologies. The system offers fans personalized control over multiple broadcast features including camera angles, commentary styles and languages, advanced statistical overlays, and even customized court designs.
Such capabilities promise to usher in a new era of interactive and immersive sports entertainment, allowing viewers to tailor their experience based on preference and gain insights deeper than ever before.

This preview of “POV mode” aligns with the NBA’s ongoing commitment to leverage cutting-edge technology to enhance the fan experience while also expanding the ways audiences can connect with the game.
Looking Ahead
The “POV mode” is expected to roll out more broadly in future NBA games, offering fans unprecedented access to live action from the eyes of their favorite players. This breakthrough not only enhances enjoyment but also educates fans on the complexities that define high-level professional basketball.
As the NBA continues to push the boundaries of sports tech, fans can look forward to more exciting and interactive ways to engage with basketball — making every game more thrilling and immersive than ever before.
