Dan Tri Newspaper Honored with Journalism Award for Excellence in Science, Technology, and Innovation Reporting

HANOI, February 6, 2026 – Dan Tri Newspaper has been recognized for its outstanding contribution to science and technology journalism, receiving the Encouragement Award at the 2025 Journalism Award on Science, Technology, Innovation, and Digital Transformation. The accolade was bestowed for its impactful series of articles titled "Standing on the Shoulders of Giants to Break Through," authored by Le Bao Trung, Doan Trung Nam, and Tran The Anh.

The award ceremony was held on the morning of February 6 at the Ministry of Science and Technology in Hanoi, celebrating journalistic excellence within a year marked by accelerated focus on science, technology, and innovation (S&T) as pivotal drivers of Vietnam’s new growth model. This model aims to achieve rapid, sustainable development by enhancing productivity, quality, value addition, and national competitiveness.

Nearly 700 entries were received for this year’s awards from individual and group authors across the country, underscoring the vibrant engagement of the media community in covering scientific and technological advancements. The jury commended the diversity and professional quality of the entries, which addressed crucial and timely themes ranging from technological innovation to digital transformation’s impact on socio-economic development.

About the Award-Winning Series

“Standing on the Shoulders of Giants to Break Through” stands out as a thoughtful and well-researched series that acts as a platform for experts to analyze key guiding principles set forth by Vietnam’s General Secretary. It assesses the current science and technology landscape in the country, emphasizes priority cooperation areas, highlights success stories of leading technology firms, and proposes practical solutions aimed at realizing Resolution 57. The series also explores how Vietnam can seize opportunities brought by the Fourth Industrial Revolution to foster breakthroughs in development.

Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Bui Hoang Phuong spoke at the ceremony, emphasizing the maturation of science and technology journalism in Vietnam. “The press has evolved beyond mere information transmission to become a critical infrastructure for disseminating knowledge, making technology more understandable, promoting innovation, and turning digital transformation into a collective societal endeavor,” he said. He further highlighted the press’s role as a pioneering force connecting science and technology with people, businesses, and localities across the nation.

Focus on Core Issues and Practical Realities

This year’s awards highlighted an important trend: numerous entries did not merely showcase successes but also delved into core development challenges such as institutional reforms in science and technology, nurturing innovation ecosystems, advancing grassroots digital transformation, and applying technology in fields like healthcare, agriculture, industry, and social life.

Deputy Minister Bui Hoang Phuong praised journalists for their close collaboration with local communities, businesses, and scientific experts, which enabled deeper investigative work and the formulation of valuable recommendations for sustained progress.

Other Award Recipients

The 2025 Journalism Award ceremony also honored a range of other journalistic works, with first prizes awarded to notable pieces from Hanoi New Newspaper, Tuyen Quang Newspaper and Radio & Television, People’s Army Newspaper, and Vietnam Television (VTV1), among others. Second and third prizes recognized diverse contributions from various media outlets across Vietnam.
