Celebrating Innovation: 22 Remarkable Journalistic Triumphs in Science, Technology, and Digital Transformation

22 Outstanding Journalistic Works on Science, Technology, Innovation, and Digital Transformation Honored at 2025 Awards Ceremony

Hanoi, February 6, 2026 — The Ministry of Science and Technology held the prestigious 2025 Journalism Award Ceremony celebrating outstanding contributions in the fields of science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation. The event, which took place in the capital city of Hanoi, recognized 22 exemplary journalistic works that have significantly contributed to public understanding and advancement of these crucial sectors.

Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Bui Hoang Phuong presided over the ceremony and emphasized the vital role journalism plays as a bridge linking scientific research, policymaking, and the practical needs of society and business. He highlighted how journalism in the digital age has transformed into a crucial infrastructure for disseminating knowledge, making complex technologies accessible, inspiring innovation, and promoting digital transformation as a concrete societal action.

“The Journalism Award on Science, Technology, Innovation & Digital Transformation not only honors outstanding works but also affirms science and technology as the central driving forces of national development,” Deputy Minister Bui Hoang Phuong said in his keynote address. “Journalistic efforts bring advanced scientific ideas closer to the people, enterprises, and localities through clear language, thereby enhancing awareness and practical implementation.”

Since its inception in 2012, the annual award has grown to become a respected event with participation from journalists nationwide, showcasing their dedicated coverage of scientific breakthroughs, innovative digital transformation models, and the effective dissemination of government policies related to science and technology.

2025 marked a milestone with the award’s renaming to include both Innovation and Digital Transformation, reflecting an integrated strategy aligned with recent government resolutions and the merger of the previous Ministries. This broadened scope highlights the interconnectedness of scientific research, innovation ecosystems, and digital transformation initiatives in Vietnam’s sustainable development agenda.

Award-Winning Works and Their Impact

The ceremony honored 5 First Prizes, 5 Second Prizes, 6 Third Prizes, and 6 Consolation Prizes. The awardees received trophies, certificates signed by the Minister of Science and Technology, and monetary rewards.

First Prizes were awarded to the following notable works and groups:

  • "Resolution No. 57/NQ-TW: A Way Out for Public Research Institutes" by Hanoi Moi Newspaper
  • "Bringing Digital Technology to Border Villages" by Tuyen Quang Newspaper and Radio and Television
  • "Vietnam’s New Strength from Science and Technology" by People’s Army Newspaper
  • "AI Calculations" by VTV1 Channel, Vietnam Television
  • "Inside the Radioactive Drug Preparation Center for Cancer Patients" by VnExpress Newspaper

Speaking on behalf of the first prize-winning team from Tuyen Quang Newspaper and Radio and Television, journalist Nguyen Thi Minh Tuyen expressed deep honor and gratitude. The team’s series, titled "Bringing Digital Transformation to Border Villages," documents the challenges and triumphs in introducing digital technologies in remote border areas where infrastructure and access barriers are significant. The work highlights how digital transformation is not just about technology but embodies humanitarian values by narrowing inequality and enabling equal access to knowledge — ensuring no community is left behind.

“The award motivates us to continue telling authentic, insightful stories about science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation that truly resonate with people,” Nguyen Thi Minh Tuyen said.

Other prize-winning works covered vital themes such as nuclear power development, technology-based disaster resilience, scientific policy reforms, and breakthroughs in medical technology — vividly illustrating the press’s indispensable role in advancing the national science and technology agenda.

Encouragement for Ongoing Excellence

Deputy Minister Bui Hoang Phuong encouraged media agencies and journalists to continue their passionate, intellectual, and responsible reporting efforts. He urged them to identify new issues, highlight exemplary models, and courageously address obstacles hindering scientific and technological progress.

“With each story, journalists shape public awareness, promote reform, and spread innovation spirit across society,” he stated. Building on the success of the 2025 awards, he officially launched the 2026 Journalism Award on Science, Technology, Innovation & Digital Transformation, expressing hope for continued close cooperation between the press and the science and technology sectors.

This ceremony underscores the essential collaboration between journalism and science in fostering an informed, innovative, and digitally empowered society aligned with Vietnam’s goals of rapid and sustainable development.
