ARC Clean Technology Secures $15 Million Investment Led by Cleantech Ventures to Advance Advanced Small Modular Reactors
ARC Clean Technology, a U.S.-based innovator developing advanced small modular nuclear reactors (aSMRs), has successfully closed a $15 million funding round. The investment was led by Cleantech Ventures and included participation from Xplor Ventures, Banpu Ventures, Hennessy Capital Group, Core Synergy, YEO Technology, and other investors from the energy, infrastructure, and technology sectors.
Advancing Next-Generation Nuclear Energy Technology
ARC Clean Technology specializes in the design and commercialization of the ARC-100, a safe and cost-effective advanced small modular reactor that provides carbon-free energy. The ARC-100 features a modular design capable of delivering 100 megawatts electric (MWe) of power, suitable for a wide range of applications such as electrical grids, industrial facilities, and rapidly expanding artificial intelligence (AI) data centers.
With offices in the United States and Canada, ARC Clean Technology is part of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Advanced Reactor Demonstration Program (ARDP), which supports the accelerated development of small modular reactors. Their reactor technology is based on a proven sodium-cooled fast reactor design, which provides a reliable, continuous, and clean energy source. This technology meets growing demands from global companies and institutions looking for dependable power to support AI data centers, industrial operations, and grid reliability.
Utilization of Funds and Strategic Partnerships
The newly secured $15 million will be used to further commercialize the ARC-100 reactor and to support the company’s global expansion efforts. It will also back ongoing collaborations with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the company’s partnership on international deployment initiatives, including a significant agreement with Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP). Moreover, support will continue for project development activities in Canada led by ARC’s strategic partner Hatch, a global engineering consultancy.
Statements from Leadership and Partners
James Wolf, CEO of ARC Clean Technology, commented on the funding round:
“This investment reflects strong confidence in ARC’s progress and the ARC-100’s capability to deliver reliable, clean heat and power to energy-intensive industries and next-generation data centers. This funding enables us to accelerate deployments in collaboration with our partners across the United States, Canada, and internationally.”
Eren Aşkın, Managing Director at Cleantech Ventures, emphasized the strategic importance of the investment:
“ARC Clean Technology offers a real infrastructure solution amid the rapidly growing global need for clean, reliable, and scalable energy. Our investment in ARC strengthens our strategy focused on sustainability-driven technologies and reflects our vision to support technologies poised to transform the future. We believe in the market-disruptive potential of ARC’s technology and are pleased to support their accelerated global growth.”
Amar Jolly, Energy Sector Managing Director at Hatch, also expressed optimism:
“Hatch has been closely collaborating with ARC since 2022 and is delighted to witness significant progress toward the commissioning and commercialization of the ARC-100. Its high-temperature zero-emission design is ideal for powering hyperscale data centers and heavy industry. We look forward to continuing our partnership as ARC advances its commercialization process.”
