Revolutionizing Vision Care: TCL CSOT Launches Groundbreaking 2025 Eye-Care Technology White Paper

TCL CSOT Unveils "2025 Eye-Care Technology White Paper," Setting New Benchmarks for Natural-Light Display Standards

Suzhou, China, November 25, 2025 — TCL China Star Optoelectronics Technology (TCL CSOT), a leading global innovator in advanced display technologies and a subsidiary of TCL Technology, has officially released the highly anticipated "2025 Eye-Care Technology White Paper." The announcement was made during the TCL CSOT Display Health Industry Seminar, highlighting a pioneering step in enhancing eye health through display innovation.

The White Paper represents the industry’s first comprehensive eye-care technology framework, establishing natural light as the gold standard for next-generation displays. Authored in collaboration with the National Engineering Research Center for Ophthalmology & Optometry of Wenzhou Medical University, Lenovo, CVTE, TAL Education, the China Institute of Standardization, SGS, and other leading industry partners, the document delineates six core dimensions critical for eye-friendly displays: broad spectrum, non-polarization, continuity, diffuse reflection, rhythmicity, and spatiality.

Defining a Human-Centric Display Ecosystem

At the 2025 TCL CSOT Global Display Tech-Ecosystem Conference (DTC 2025), Jun Zhao, Senior Vice President of TCL Technology and CEO of TCL CSOT, emphasized the importance of shifting the industry’s focus from marketing buzzwords to genuine eye health protection. He advocated for screens that emit light closely matching the qualities of natural light to safeguard users’ vision effectively. Zhao also called for increased cross-industry collaboration to accelerate adoption of vision health technologies.

Supporting this vision, Dr. Xiaolin Yan, CTO of TCL Technology and TCL CSOT, explained that the White Paper underscores the goal of restoring natural visual environments through screen technology. Achieving this requires an interdisciplinary approach across scientific fields, a hallmark of the White Paper’s development.

Professor Jia Qu, Honorary Chief Dean of the Eye Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University and Director of the National Eye Optometry Engineering Technology Research Center, added: “Outdoor activity, natural light exposure, and electronic device usage are the three key factors influencing myopia prevention and control in children and adolescents. Natural light is the fundamental factor. This White Paper, created through a multi-disciplinary collaboration, provides a robust scientific foundation for advancing eye-health focused display technology from concept to application.”

Innovations Aligned with Natural-Light Standards

Reflecting TCL CSOT’s commitment to eye-health, the seminar showcased two groundbreaking display products achieving global firsts in natural-light certification:

  • 86-inch Whiteboard Display: Developed in partnership with CVTE, this product earned the world’s first SGS Natural-Light Certification for whiteboard displays. It utilizes TCL CSOT’s full-matrix ambient-light sensing technology combined with a natural-light composite non-polarizing film.

  • 6.9-inch OLED MB Display: This display received the world’s first natural-light certification for OLED screens, featuring a non-polarized optical architecture and full-range DC continuity performance.

These milestones highlight TCL CSOT’s long-term efforts in eye-health research and its leadership role in the advanced display sector.

The APEX Framework: Advancing Eye-Health Technology

Both product successes are practical implementations of TCL CSOT’s proprietary APEX eye-health framework. This innovation philosophy prioritizes a human-centric approach throughout research and development, emphasizing the company’s dedication to "Protective of Eye Health."

By employing scientifically validated design principles that closely mimic natural light, APEX guides TCL CSOT’s development of displays that do more than offer functionality—they deliver eye-protective visual experiences that integrate technology with human well-being.

Looking ahead, TCL CSOT plans to deepen collaboration with academic, medical, and industrial institutions worldwide. This collaborative effort aims to refine natural-light display principles, enhance understanding of user-focused physiological mechanisms, and promote standardized benchmarks for eye-health. Sustained investment will accelerate converting scientific insights into real-world applications, enabling the industry to achieve new standards for visual health.
