Indonesia Strengthens Role as Fintech Growth Hub at Hong Kong FinTech Week 2025
Jakarta, November 7, 2025 — Indonesia is increasingly recognized as a burgeoning center for financial technology (fintech) development in Southeast Asia, a status underscored through its active participation in the world’s largest fintech event, Hong Kong FinTech Week (HKFW) 2025. The event, held in Hong Kong, brought together a global assembly of regulators, investors, and key players from the digital financial services sector.
The Indonesian Fintech Lending Association (Asosiasi Fintech Pendanaan Bersama Indonesia, AFPI) represented the country as an exhibitor at HKFW 2025, alongside its prominent members including Amartha, Pinjamin, Privy, and MonetaPay. With more than 37,000 attendees, 800 speakers, 700 exhibitors, and participation from over 30 countries, the event served as a vital platform for Indonesia to showcase its fintech lending ecosystem and explore strategic opportunities for expansion and collaboration.
Showcasing Indonesia’s Fintech Potential
AFPI’s involvement at HKFW 2025 was integral in highlighting Indonesia’s strides in fintech lending—a sector pivotal to improving financial inclusion in the region. AFPI used the forum to demonstrate innovative and sustainable business models that support national economic development while emphasizing strong governance and robust consumer protection frameworks.
Entjik S Djafar, Chairman of AFPI, emphasized the importance of their presence at this global conference. “Through Hong Kong FinTech Week, we aim to show the world that Indonesia’s fintech lending ecosystem is rapidly growing, with sound governance and a strong commitment to consumer protection. Our business models are not only inclusive but also investor-friendly, operating under clear and highly integrated regulatory frameworks,” he stated in an official press release dated November 7, 2025. Building Global Partnerships and Regional Connectivity
Beyond promotion, the AFPI delegation viewed HKFW 2025 as an opportunity to strengthen cross-border partnerships, particularly with Hong Kong, to enhance regional fintech connectivity. Such collaborations are expected to foster innovation, investment, and the establishment of best practices across Asia’s fintech landscape.
Indonesia’s participation aligns with its broader strategy to attract global investors and position itself as a significant player in the fintech lending arena in Southeast Asia. By engaging in international platforms like HKFW, Indonesian fintech companies are better positioned to tap into global expertise and investment pools, further accelerating the sector’s growth.
Looking Forward
The fintech lending sector plays a crucial role in bridging financial service gaps and driving economic inclusivity in Indonesia. AFPI and its members continue to advocate for collaborative efforts and regulatory frameworks that support sustainable fintech development.
As fintech technologies evolve and expand globally, Indonesia’s proactive approach in international forums signals its commitment to fostering innovation while safeguarding consumer interests. Events such as HKFW 2025 exemplify the country’s ambition to solidify its status as a vibrant fintech hub in the dynamic Southeast Asian market.
