Kemenag Announces Winners of Robotics and Choir Competitions at Robotic Technology for A Green Future Event
Bogor, November 2, 2025 — The Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) officially announced the winners of the Madrasah Robotic Competition (MRC) 2025, a prestigious event spotlighting the talents of madrasah students across Indonesia in science, technology, and innovation. The closing ceremony was held on Saturday, November 1, at Living World Kota Wisata, Bogor, and was officiated by the Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs, Romo Muhammad Syafi’i.
MRC 2025: Pioneering Green Technology with Islamic Values
With the theme “Robotic Technology for A Green Future,” this year’s competition emphasized environmentally-friendly innovation aligned with Islamic teachings. Participants were challenged to design robots addressing social issues and environmental sustainability, highlighting the importance of caring for the Earth as a manifestation of faith.
Dirjen Pendidikan Islam, Amien Suyitno, underlined that the competition, now in its 11th year since its inception in 2015, featured a hybrid format. The initial rounds were held online, attracting an unprecedented 616 teams from various provinces — the largest turnout to date — while the finals took place offline in Bogor.
“This increase in participation and the quality of innovations demonstrate the significant progress of madrasah education,” said Suyitno. “Madrasahs are now the frontrunners in technological education deeply rooted in religious values.”
Robotic Innovation and Ecological Awareness
The 2025 MRC integrated the concept of ecological theology (ekoteologi), to nurture environmental consciousness among young madrasah students. The competition sought to prove that technology is not merely a tool for convenience but a responsibility to promote human welfare and sustainability.
Students from Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) and Madrasah Aliyah (MA) dazzled with their innovative robots addressing green technology challenges, particularly in the Robot Karya Inovasi category. Meanwhile, participants from Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI), MTs, and MA competed fiercely in the Mobile Robot Labirin category, showcasing their expertise in robotics integrated with artificial intelligence.
Remarks from Deputy Minister Romo Muhammad Syafi’i
In his closing remarks, Deputy Minister Romo Muhammad Syafi’i commended all participants for their creativity and dedication. “Technology and religion must advance hand in hand to achieve a balanced life. Technology is not only a tool but a trust to ensure the prosperity of humanity,” he emphasized.
He also encouraged madrasah students to continue innovating, underscoring that true victory is measured by contributions to civilization rather than trophies. “The youth today must lead today. There is no ‘later.’ Challenges must be met now,” Romo Syafi’i urged.
