Microsoft to Introduce Cutting-Edge Discovery AI Technology at New Jersey AI Hub
Princeton, NJ – October 30, 2025
In a significant development for artificial intelligence research in New Jersey, Microsoft, a founding partner of the New Jersey Artificial Intelligence Hub (NJ AI Hub), announced on Thursday that it will bring its new Microsoft Discovery platform to the Hub. This advanced Agentic AI and cloud computing technology is designed to accelerate scientific research and enable the solving of complex problems with greater efficiency.
The NJ AI Hub, established through a partnership including Princeton University, Microsoft, CoreWeave, and the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA), aims to leverage AI for regional economic growth and technological advancement. Microsoft’s Discovery platform will be one of only two such installations worldwide at launch, the other being at TitletownTech in Wisconsin in collaboration with the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Liat Krawczyk, executive director of the NJ AI Hub, emphasized the opportunity this represents for local researchers: “Part of the mission of the New Jersey AI Hub is to bring the power of artificial intelligence to the people of New Jersey, for the benefit of the region and its economy. We have here a real opportunity for researchers in academia and industry to have the kind of breakthroughs we’ve all been waiting for with AI.”
Princeton University’s provost Jennifer Rexford expressed excitement about the platform’s potential impact on scientific research: “We’re excited for our scholars to use the Microsoft Discovery platform to accelerate their cutting-edge scientific work and be early leaders in this new mode of research.” She also highlighted the broader opportunities for researchers from across the state to engage with the platform and benefit from NJ AI Hub initiatives.
Accelerating Research Through Advanced AI
Microsoft Discovery is designed to speed up the scientific discovery process by harnessing high-performance computing combined with AI to analyze large volumes of scientific data, simulate experiments, and identify new materials or solutions that traditional methods may take much longer to uncover. The platform also facilitates enhanced collaboration by integrating specialized AI agents with human experts for iterative problem-solving and innovation.
Jason Zander, Microsoft’s Executive Vice President, underscored New Jersey’s robust life sciences sector and the value of the partnership: “New Jersey’s life sciences landscape is world-class. By bringing Microsoft Discovery to this partnership with the NJ AI Hub, we can accelerate breakthroughs where they matter most. By connecting industry and academic expertise across pharma, biotech, and materials science, we’re poised to turn high-impact challenges into solutions faster and at scale.”
Beyond technology provision, Microsoft’s TechSpark program supports AI literacy, workforce development, and inclusive innovation initiatives throughout New Jersey. The integration of the Discovery platform aligns with the NJ AI Hub’s broader mission to enhance access to AI’s computational power for academic institutions, government entities, startups, and industry players statewide.
Building an Inclusive AI Ecosystem
The NJ AI Hub features a 6,500-square-foot collaborative workspace in West Windsor, which serves as a hub for startups, accelerators, education programs, workforce development, and community events focused on AI topics such as ethics and practical applications.
CoreWeave, another founding partner, welcomed the new platform’s arrival. Corey Sanders, Senior Vice President of Product at CoreWeave, shared, “We see firsthand from our customers how AI can innovate, develop, and shape the very foundation of our world and enable awe-inspiring scientific discoveries. We are thrilled that Microsoft is bringing its Discovery platform to the NJ AI Hub to accelerate these cutting-edge advancements in science, right here in our home state of New Jersey.”
Looking ahead, the NJ AI Hub and Microsoft plan to collaborate on a strategic rollout to engage early adopters and innovators focusing on societal challenges. A key objective is to strengthen connections among university researchers, industry leaders, and entrepreneurs, especially along New Jersey’s Route 1 corridor, while mobilizing talent from across the state.
