Sahrawi Republic Participates in 9th High-Level EU–AU Policy Dialogue on Science, Technology, and Innovation in Brussels
Brussels, Belgium – October 24, 2025 – The Sahrawi Republic, through its Ministry of Education and Vocational Training, actively took part in the 9th High-Level Policy Dialogue between the African Union (AU) and the European Union (EU) focused on Science, Technology, and Innovation. The event was held on Friday in the Belgian capital, Brussels.
Representing the Sahrawi Republic at the dialogue were Mr. Moulay Mohamed Brahim, Director of Higher Education and Director of Tifariti University. He was accompanied by Ambassador Alien Habib Kentawi, the Polisario Front representative to Europe and the European Union.
The dialogue featured key participants, including the AU Commissioner for Science, Technology, and Innovation, as well as the Director-General of the Directorate for Research and Innovation at the European Commission. Delegates from multiple African and European countries took part, fostering a diverse and inclusive environment for discussions.
During the event, participants examined several reports and strategic proposals aimed at reinforcing the partnership between the African and European unions in areas related to science, technological advancement, and innovative practices. The exchange included presentations highlighting successful cooperative programs that link African institutions with their European counterparts.
Two significant recommendations emerged from the meeting, intended to guide future actions and collaboration frameworks:
- The promotion of scientific diplomacy as a tool to enhance mutual understanding and collaborative capacity between the AU and EU.
- The optimal utilization of artificial intelligence technologies to support sustainable development and innovation across African and European nations.
These recommendations are set to be submitted for consideration at the upcoming ministerial meeting scheduled for the end of November.
