Škoda Vision O: Revolutionizing Estate Cars with Cutting-Edge Design and Sustainability

Škoda Unveils Vision O Concept: A New Era in Estate Car Design and Technology

September 8, 2025 – Škoda Auto, a leading European automobile manufacturer, has introduced the Vision O concept, marking a significant advancement in the evolution of estate cars. This new concept car combines Škoda’s rich heritage in estate model production with cutting-edge design, sustainable materials, and innovative technology aimed at enhancing everyday usability and user experience.

Blending Tradition with Innovation

Škoda has established a legacy as a European market leader in estate vehicles, a segment the company plans to maintain as a core offering for years to come. The Vision O is a strong statement of Škoda’s ongoing commitment to this segment. It builds upon the "Modern Solid" design philosophy that the carmaker first introduced with the Vision 7S concept in 2022. This design evolution is visually represented through the new Tech-Loop front mask, which artistically shapes the front elements into an illuminated "O," symbolizing the concept’s name and identity.

The Vision O’s exterior design exudes a bold, confident presence with a focus on functional aesthetics. Aerodynamic features include active grille shutters, directed airflow channels around the wheels, vented bonnet sections to reduce drag and manage rainwater, as well as aerodynamically optimized wheels. The sloping roofline and angled rear end culminate with T-shaped LED taillights, a hallmark of Škoda’s design language.

Practicality Meets Sustainability

The Vision O offers a luggage capacity of over 650 liters, ensuring it meets the diverse needs of families and business users alike. According to Klaus Zellmer, CEO of Škoda Auto, the vehicle combines innovative design with advanced features such as autonomous driving capabilities and an intuitive AI assistant, transforming journeys into effortless and empowering experiences.

Sustainability is a core element of the Vision O, especially within the interior. The cabin extensively uses recycled and recyclable materials without compromising quality or functionality. Seats and other interior components are fashioned from 100% recycled polyester flat knit, designed to minimize waste, while headrests are made from eco-friendly Ultrasint TPU. Large surface areas within the cabin feature Ultrasuede nu—a material composed of 65% plant-based elements—with stain resistance and a translucent pearlescent finish. Even the floor covering utilizes NABORE, composed of recycled leather scraps.

Intelligent, User-Friendly Technology

Inside, the Vision O emphasizes simplicity and user comfort paired with advanced technology. The driver’s cockpit features a wide, seamless horizontal display delivering customizable driver information. Control is facilitated through touch input, tactile Smart Dial controllers, and steering wheel buttons designed for intuitive use.

An AI assistant named Laura enhances the driving experience by managing vehicle functions and everyday tasks such as scheduling appointments, recommending local activities, and even entertaining children with stories. Complementing comfort, the cabin incorporates circadian lighting that adjusts illumination based on natural daily cycles to support occupants’ biorhythms. Practicality is further enhanced by a standard 230V power socket for portable devices.

A Bold Step Toward the Future

Project Manager Daniel Edr highlights the Vision O’s design inspiration, drawing connections to early Octavia generations and emphasizing a return to the brand’s core principle of functionality. Designer Jounggeen Kim adds that the B-pillar design, inspired by iconic Škoda models like the Yeti and Roomster, along with a panoramic roof and distinctive logo-inspired details, enhances the car’s spaciousness and character.

Škoda Vision O is a visionary concept vehicle that sets the stage for the future of estate cars, combining style, technology, and sustainability in a package that respects the brand’s roots while paving the way for modern mobility challenges.

Legacy of Škoda Estate Cars

Škoda’s history of estate cars is illustrious, with milestones starting from the 1998 launch of the first Octavia Combi, followed by the Superb Combi in 2008. These models have sold millions of units across Europe, reinforcing Škoda’s strong position in this market segment.

The Vision O concept reaffirms Škoda’s dedication to estate models, signaling exciting developments in design, technology, and eco-friendly manufacturing for the years ahead.
