Nicolás López de Aguileta Appointed as New CTO of Navarra Startup Opportunity Health
Pamplona, September 8, 2025 – The Navarra-based startup Opportunity Health, known for developing Yarnasa, a life-saving device designed to prevent choking-related fatalities, has announced the appointment of Nicolás López de Aguileta as its new Chief Technology Officer (CTO).
Opportunity Health’s leadership expressed great satisfaction with the addition of López de Aguileta to their team. "Nicolás is no stranger to our project; during his time at the University of Navarra, he became closely acquainted with Yarnasa and was indirectly involved in its validation processes. He now joins us directly, bringing the energy, experience, and responsibility necessary to guide the device through the rigorous regulatory and certification pathways, ensuring its safety and effectiveness," the company stated.
The startup, led by CEO Germán Sánchez, highlighted López de Aguileta’s extensive professional background. Prior to joining Opportunity Health, he served as the head of the Medical Engineering Laboratory at the University of Navarra’s Faculty of Medicine. His expertise spans medical device design, artificial intelligence applications, and technology transfer, all crucial areas for the company’s ambitious goals. López de Aguileta holds a biomedical engineering degree from the University of Navarra and has earned two master’s degrees: one in Design and Engineering for Additive Manufacturing from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, and a Master’s in Bioinformatics and Biostatistics from the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya. Before his tenure at the University of Navarra, he gained valuable industry experience working at BCN3D Technologies and within the Navarra Health Service.
