Revolutionizing Mobile Gaming: Arm's Groundbreaking Neural Technology Sets a New Standard for Graphics and AI Integration

Arm Unveils Revolutionary Neural Technology to Enhance Mobile Graphics and Developer Innovation

August 12, 2025 — Arm today announced a groundbreaking advancement in mobile graphics technology with the launch of its Arm Neural Technology, set to debut in 2026. This industry-first innovation will integrate dedicated neural accelerators directly into Arm GPUs, delivering PC-quality, AI-powered graphics to mobile devices for the first time and establishing a new era for on-device AI capabilities.

Pioneering AI-Driven Graphics Upscaling

At the core of this breakthrough is Neural Super Sampling (NSS), an AI-driven graphics upscaler designed to significantly enhance mobile visual experiences. NSS can potentially double the resolution—upscaling graphics from 540p to 1080p—while maintaining near-native image quality at an impressive speed of just 4 milliseconds per frame. This innovation enables developers to reduce GPU workload by up to 50% for the most demanding mobile content, particularly gaming, which translates into lower power consumption without compromising performance or visual fidelity.

“Developers now have the flexibility to either extend battery life or push for higher frame rates and richer detail, balancing performance and energy efficiency in ways previously impossible on mobile devices,” said Geraint North, Fellow of AI and Developer Platforms at Arm.

Open Neural Graphics Development Kit Empowers Developers

In tandem with the hardware announcement, Arm is launching the world’s first publicly available neural graphics development kit. The kit is designed to allow developers to start integrating AI-powered rendering into their workflows immediately—more than a year before the hardware becomes available. It includes:

  • An Unreal Engine plugin for seamless integration with existing game development pipelines
  • PC-based Vulkan emulation enabling easy testing and profiling
  • Updated profiling tools for performance optimization
  • Fully open models accessible via GitHub and Hugging Face repositories
  • Open machine learning (ML) extensions for Vulkan that introduce a neural-specific Graph Pipeline alongside traditional graphics and compute pipelines

This open approach grants developers full access to model architectures, weights, and retraining tools needed to customize AI models, fostering an environment of innovation and collaboration. Industry leaders including Enduring Games, Epic Games, NetEase Games, Sumo Digital, Tencent Games, and Traverse Research have already expressed strong support for the development kit.

Extending Impact Beyond Gaming

While gaming is a primary focus, Arm’s neural technology is versatile, with potential applications extending to neural camera workloads and real-time path tracing. These applications allow for richer mobile experiences through on-device AI, enhancing not only upscaling but also denoising and frame rate upscaling.

Looking ahead to 2026, Arm plans to introduce additional AI capabilities such as Neural Frame Rate Upscaling, which can double frame rates without doubling rendering load, and Neural Super Sampling combined with Denoising to enable real-time path tracing on mobile devices more efficiently.

Industry Partners Share Enthusiasm

Key partners have highlighted the transformative potential of Arm Neural Technology. Adam Creighton, Founder and CEO of Enduring Games, praised the development kit as “a purpose-built platform for the future of mobile game development, enabling richer, more immersive experiences.” Similarly, representatives from NetEase Games, Sumo Digital, Tencent Games, and Traverse Research emphasized the opportunity to bring console-quality visuals and innovative AI-powered workflows to mobile platforms.

Driving the Future of On-Device AI

The introduction of dedicated neural accelerators within Arm GPUs represents a pivotal milestone for the mobile industry, offering developers unprecedented tools to harness AI for smarter, sharper, and more power-efficient graphics. By providing an open, unified platform today, Arm is accelerating the timeline for AI-driven innovation and setting new standards for mobile computing performance.

For developers and enthusiasts eager to explore these advancements, resources including the neural graphics development kit, open models, and technical demonstrations such as NSS are available now via Arm’s official GitHub and Hugging Face pages.
