€385 Million Boost: BEI to Fund Cutting-Edge Indra Technology Hub for Modernized Facilities in Spain

European Investment Bank to Finance Indra Technology Hub with €385 Million

Torrejón de Ardoz, Spain – The European Investment Bank commits €385 million to build the new Indra Technology Hub. The bank funds construction to update Indra’s old site and to ready the company for future growth and tech change.

EIB President Nadia Calviño spoke of the plan. She ties this project to Indra’s larger plan, "Leading the Future," which was shared in March 2024. The hub will arise in Torrejón de Ardoz, near Madrid, to swap out nearly 50-year-old facilities. It will cover 77 hectares and gather all of Indra’s work areas, except those in Aranjuez. About 3,000 employees will soon work there.

Building begins in late 2025. Calviño links close work with Indra to a coming funding plan centered on security and defense. The bank boosts its funds, especially in security, to meet modern global challenges.

In a related note, the EIB board, including finance ministers from the 27 EU states, now sets a funding ceiling of €100 billion for 2025. Money for security and defense will see a threefold jump to €3.5 billion compared to last year. Calviño cites around 80 projects in the bank’s current portfolio. Out of these, 32 win special focus, one being the Indra Technology Hub.

The bank now directs funds toward projects solely dealing with military tasks. This new side of funding matches NATO’s plan for more defense spending and the EU’s wish to build stronger defense skills.

The EIB drives these plans to craft a secure and modern Europe. Calviño sets a goal: 3.5% of all funds will go to security and defense in 2025. This news joins wider work by the EIB and the EU to set up funding for tasks that meet both current and future needs. The project refreshes Indra’s work and marks a shift in how European funds move toward security and defense tasks.

This key funding agreement is set to boost Indra’s work, set the company as a tech lead, and add weight to the strength of Europe’s structures.
