Turkcell and Google Forge Strategic Partnership in Cloud Technology, Pledging $1 Billion Investment by 2032
Istanbul, November 12, 2025 — Turkish telecommunications giant Turkcell has entered into a strategic partnership with technology leader Google to advance cloud computing infrastructure and services in Turkey. The collaboration was announced today via an official statement from Turkcell, according to Reuters, highlighting plans to significantly expand data center capacities and cloud technology capabilities.
As part of the agreement, Turkcell intends to invest $1 billion by the end of 2032 to build and enhance its data infrastructure, positioning itself at the forefront of cloud innovation within the region. This long-term investment underlines both companies’ commitment to accelerating digital transformation and supporting enterprises and consumers with advanced technological solutions.
Expansion within Turkey’s Growing 5G Market
Turkcell recently emerged as a leading player in Turkey’s 5G telecom landscape, alongside Vodafone and Türk Telekom, after collectively winning major 5G service tenders amounting to $2.95 billion. Turkcell secured the highest bid of $429 million for the 700 MHz frequency band and won four packages within the 3.5 GHz band, with total successful bids valued at $1.22 billion. The rollout of nationwide 5G services is expected to commence in April 2026, initially targeting large urban centers.
This expanding 5G network development complements Turkcell’s cloud ambitions, providing a robust platform to deliver high-speed, low-latency connectivity required for next-generation applications such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT), and big data analytics.
Google’s Growing Cloud Investments in Europe and Beyond
Turkcell’s collaboration with Google aligns with the latter’s broader strategy of expanding cloud infrastructure globally. In August 2025, Google signed a landmark $10 billion cloud computing deal with Meta Platforms, providing Meta with extensive use of Google Cloud’s servers, storage, and networking services.
More recently, Google announced plans to invest approximately €5.5 billion (around $6.41 billion) into Germany’s data infrastructure over the coming years. This includes establishing a new data center in Ditsenbach near Frankfurt and expanding facilities in Hanau, located in the central German state of Hesse. These efforts reinforce Google’s commitment to strengthening cloud capacity in Europe’s largest economy.
Industry experts note that partnerships like the Turkcell-Google alliance emphasize the strategic importance of cloud services as a backbone for digital economies. By combining Turkcell’s extensive local telecommunications presence with Google’s cutting-edge cloud expertise, the partnership is expected to spur innovative service offerings and enhance Turkey’s competitiveness in the global tech landscape.
Looking ahead, both companies are reportedly focused on integrating artificial intelligence capabilities and other advanced technologies into their cloud platforms to meet evolving market demands.
